Virtualmania!

As if the stratospheric rise of VMware's IPO wasn't enough yesterday, today we hear that Citrix has purchased XenSource for $500 million.

We are clearly in the eye of the Virtualmania storm!

Gear6 has been talking about the data center impact of virtualization for a while, starting with a post on the Virtual I/O Trap last year.

With more and more companies deploying virtualized environments, it is only a matter of time before these strategies start to impact the storage environment. Gear6 has published two papers on this subject:

Server Virtualization: Avoiding the I/O Trap How centralized storage caching helps balance increasing I/O loads of virtual servers.

and

Provisioning for Predictable Performance A closer look at server, network, and storage provisioning in enterprise computing.
