Yahoo! Finance has a new stock chart tool that is very simple and offers some easy customization. Since we are half way through 2007, and we've had a couple of new IPOs with more pending, I thought it would be interesting to look at the class of 2006.
Isilon, Riverbed, Doubletake Software, and Commvault all went public in 2006. Since then Riverbed (Red) and Doubletake (Green) are almost tied for percentage gains. Commvault (Yellow) has not had tremendous success in the market, and Isilon (Blue) is hopefully on the upswing from a big loss in May.
So far in 2007, Data Domain has gone public, and Compellent has filed their S-1. We are also likely to see Netezza and the big king fish of the tech IPO circuit, VMware. Mellanox and Voltaire are also public/planning to go public covering the interconnect arena.
The storage and networking markets have seen more public market activity in the last twelve months than in the previous several years. This is good news for customers and the industry as a whole as the public markets usually help quickly sort out the winning solutions. We'll keep our eyes on the upcoming fall IPO season!
