Google's Storage Performance Gap

Even the bellwether of the mega-center era needs more storage performance. At the recent Intel Developer Forum, Google Distinguished Engineer Luiz Barroso discussed what he called the storage gap (starting on slide 9). There is also a transcript of the presentation, and an interactive web cast of Justin Rattner's talk which included a guest appearance by Luiz Barroso from Google. Our first post on the server-storage performance gap is here.

In addition to trying to fill the gap, the discussion also included talk about energy-efficient computing, an area where we are starting to see more and more focus.
